Farm Building Surveys, North and East Yorkshire
Clients: Mulgrave Estate and Hotham Family Trust
The refurbishment of listed buildings is always a sensitive issue. When the owners of the beautiful Mulgrave Estate near Whitby wanted to assess the suitability of some farm buildings for conversion, Maltech was called in to give an expert opinion.
Our brief was to discover whether the buildings were still structurally robust. After a level survey and ground investigations, the verdict was that the only major work required would be the rebuilding of a critical wall due to excessive lean. It’s great when lovely buildings like these are brought back into use.
Structural surveys of disused buildings, particularly agricultural buildings, is becoming a growing area of work for Maltech, who have also recently surveyed a number of barns with potential for conversion in East Yorkshire for Hotham Family Trust.
