Windmills in Howardian Hills and Filey
Client: local builder and Francis Johnson & Partners
We were called in by a local builder, to look at the stability of a proposed roof to a windmill conversion in the Howardian Hills . As part of the refurbishment, the builder’s Client wanted windows around the full perimeter at the top of the stone tower, with a new domed roof over. To achieve this, Maltech designed an orthogonal pair of steel ‘goal posts’ which could be bolted to the top of the tower and concealed within the window frames. This effectively prevents strong winds from distorting the new roof.
In contrast the windmill project in Filey is a proposed complete restoration project of a derelict windmill on the approach to the town.
